GCJ Stables Day Camp 2024
Welcome and thank you for trusting GCJ Stables to teach your child horsemanship certified by John and Josh Lyons. Our groups are small which make this day camp very unique and allows for maximum value and safety.
Over the course of two days your child will learn the following:
-safety
-tack and equipment
-feed and care
-round pen join up
-hoof care
-grooming
Schedule
-games with horses -riding
-confidence
- leadership -independence -communication
Day 1: 8am - 12pm – introductions, tour, chores, games, grooming, round pen, tack, assisted ride at
all activities within arm's reach
Day 2: 8am – 12pm – chores, groom, join up, tack, ride, games, herd behaviour, horse colors and markings
Clothing and Equipment
Jeans or long pants and riding boots or smooth bottom shoes (no grips) -a bit of heel will work. We encourage you to purchase a helmet for hygiene reasons, however, we do have loaners if needed. Helmets are required. Please bring sun screen, hats, bug spray. Snacks will be provided.
Parents are welcome to stay and observe but we ask you stay at a distance to help your child become independent and confident with the horse they are working with.
